Confirmed: Massospora cicadina is a fungal pathogen that infects only 13 and 17 year periodical cicadas. Infection results in a "plug" of spores that replaces the end of the cicada's abdomen while it is still alive, leading to infertility, disease transmission, and eventual death of the cicada.
We could not find any convincing evidence of a real Zombie chicken; we did find some articles calling them Zombies
Confirmed! Zombie Deer were first reported In Colorado 1967, in a herd of captive Mule Deer.
Inconclusive: A Florida homeless man, Ronald Poppo was attacked on May 26, 2012. His attacker, Rudy Eugene dubbed the "Miami Zombie" ate half the face of Ronald before being fatally shot my Miami Police. The autopsy revealed a number of undigested pills that have not been identified.
Confirmed: Insect-pathogenic fungus, discovered by the British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace in 1859, and currently found predominantly in tropical forest ecosystems.
